Verac's brassard

Verac's brassard is melee armour worn in the Body slot that is part of Verac the Defiled's Barrows equipment. To wear Verac's brassard, a player must have 70 Defence.

As part of Verac's barrows set, if Verac's brassard is worn along with all of the other pieces of equipment in Verac's barrows set the player receives a special attack. Successful attacks have a chance of hitting through an opponent's defence and prayer, potentially causing heavy damage.

It is sometimes worn in place of a Dragon chainbody as it provides nearly identical stat bonuses and a healthy prayer bonus for less than 1/20th the price, while still looking somewhat-good with the rest of the Dragon armour set. This piece of armour gives the lowest defence stat-wise among other chest armour that requires 70 defence and is also lower than the Dragon platebody which only requires 60 defence. These stats make this less useful for the purpose of tanking, although this may be compensated by its very small magic and range attack penalty as well as a decent prayer bonus. Even though it gives a good defence bonus, only the shoulder and shield-wielding arm appear to be protected while wearing Verac's brassard–which would present an ergonomic as well as a protective problem.

The low negative magic bonus makes this plate one of the best to cast magic from, While at the same time providing a good defence and prayer bonus.
