Aftershock is an Inventionperk that deals additional AoE damage for every 50,000 damage the player deals. It can be created in weapon gizmos.
Unequipping the perked weapon or switching to a different weapon without the perk resets the stored damage to 0. Switching to a different weapon with Aftershock of any rank prevents the damage stored from resetting.
Aftershock cannot hit the maximum percentage (40% per rank), as the damage range from Aftershock only goes in intervals of 0.4%. For example, an ability damage burst from Aftershock will either deal 32% AoE damage or 32.4%, but never in between.
Unprovoked monsters damaged by the perk do not become aggressive, much like monsters hit by Corruption Shot/Blast with the exception of Automatons. Damaging an automaton will trigger a timer for its special attack, and after using it, it will attack nearby players.
In PvP situations, the required damage is halved alongside the damage it deals. This means only 25,000 "PvP" damage needs to be dealt. As Aftershock stays as long as weapons with the said perk are equipped, players can tag monsters to start the charging process. A player can deal 40,000 "PvM" damage and 5,000 "PvP" damage to trigger Aftershock or vice versa.
Players with very high invention levels (115+) may get Aftershock 3 with just 4 Ilujankan components, with at a rate of 6/7. [1]. The disassembly of a level 9 Dragon rider lance, Anima Core Body of Zaros or Anima Core Legs of Zaros should be more than enough for Aftershock 3, as they provide 4 Ilujankan components on disassembly, which can allow the introduction of other components for an additional perk.
