An Air talisman staff can be made by combining an air talisman with a runecrafting staff. The air talisman and staff can be combined by using them on the air runecrafting altar, which grants 25 Runecrafting experience. Runecrafting staves are sold at the Runecrafting Guild by Wizard Elriss for 10,000 Runecrafting guild tokens. To obtain the Runecrafting staff to attach the talisman to, an indirect requirement of level 50 Runecrafting is needed; in order to enter the Runecrafting Guild and play The Great Orb Project minigame to earn tokens to purchase the staff.

The staff is used in the Runecrafting skill. It is similar to an air tiara in purpose, as it can be equipped, allowing players to left click on the air altar to enter it and save an inventory space when crafting runes through not having to carry an air talisman. Jagex have also said that the staff can also be used for "distracting the eyes in the Abyss to help you sneak past". It cannot be used as a substitute for air runes when casting Magic spells.
