Airut are bipedal, boar-like creatures who follow the goddessTuska. Before Tuska's demise, they lived on her back, riding and controlling her with massive reins. They are also found on Mazcab where they are typically found wandering desert areas. They were named after an ancient warrior of the same name by the Naragi when Naragun was attacked by the Airut and Tuska. They drop the level 90 melee power gloves, razorback gauntlets, as well as pieces of the Tuska mask and pages of Kaigi's journal. They are also a very good source of Crimson Charms. Airut require 92 Slayer in order to be harmed.
They have a special attack that is signalled when they roar and hit their chest. The airut's damage will be doubled, in addition to a faster attack speed (2x for ranged, 4x for melee) while it is in a "frenzy" state. If the airut is successfully hit with Flurry or Rapid Fire, when they signal this attack or are in the process of using it, they will be disoriented. While disoriented, the airut is stunned and takes double damage from all attacks; this also stacks with damage boosting abilities like Berserk.
They also have a passive ability that increases their defence the lower their health is.
Airut came to Gielinor via portals, signalling Tuska's upcoming arrival.
The Airut in Mazcab are the only Airut that the Nemi poison affects. Those in Kuradal's Dungeon are clustered closer together, whereas those west of the Phoenix Lair and on Mazcab are more spread out.
^Only if you do not already have one. These stop dropping after the game begins dropping pages.
^Only after Kaigi's journal has been obtained. When picked up, they go straight into the journal even if it is in the bank. There are four pages in total. These stop dropping after you complete the journal.
Previously, when asking Kuradal or Morvran for advice on these creatures, they would say that they are weak to stab despite them having no explicit weakness. A similar issue occurred with Kal'gerion demons. This was corrected in a hidden update, and they now state that they have no weakness.
There is a typo when asking for more information about Airuts, where the slayer master spells the word "aggressive" as "agressive".
Razorback gauntlets were originally dropped regardless of whether you were on a slayer assignment, but this was updated on 14 April 2014.
When Mazcab was released, there was a bug where the Airuts there would only spawn in melee stance; they could still switch to their ranged stance if idle. This was changed a year after its release as Airuts in the other locations spawn in both melee and ranged stances.
As of 1 February2018, the highest kill count for this monster was 288,093 kills[1].
