A detailed image of an ancient mace

The ancient mace is a weapon that can be acquired during the Another Slice of H.A.M. quest and requires completion of the quest to wield. If lost it can be retrieved from the goblin archaeologist Tegdak for 1,000 coins, north-east of the Dorgesh-Kaan marketplace. The generals in Goblin Village will also sell the mace to players who lose it during the quest for 1,000 coins. The ancient mace has stats in between those of an iron mace and a steel mace.

Trivia

  • Before the Evolution of Combat, this weapon used to have a special attack that would hit through Protect from Melee and drained the Prayer points of the opponent by 100% the amount hit while recovering the user 100% the amount hit. (A hit of 100 drained 100 Prayer and granted 100 Prayer points to the user).
  • Prior to the Evolution of Combat, this weapon's special attack was commonly used in the Wilderness to drain player's prayer points. When done correctly (or by multiple players), this had a devastating effect capable of draining one's prayer points down to 0 and, therefore, negating the Protect Item prayer. The Evolution of Combat removed special attacks and, therefore, this function.
  • The Ancient mace can be used to be protected against the Bandos followers in the God Wars Dungeon.
  • The Ancient mace cannot be alchemised. If the player attempts to cast Low Level Alchemy or High Level Alchemy on the mace, a game message pops up that says "The ancient artefact resists your magic."
  • Most items with "ancient" in their name are associated with Zaros. However, the Ancient Mace is associated with Bandos.
  • The ancient mace looks like an ancient granite mace as time could have worn away the ridges.
