Aquanite is a Slayer monster announced by Jagex in a Guaranteed Content poll on 17 June 2009 and subsequently released on the 28th July 2009. The poll asked players which name for the new monster they preferred: Aquanite, Gilidrixon, Amphibrath, Lanterwyn or Anglibian. All the names were suggested by players on the RuneScape Forums thread "Name A Slayer Creature" in "Suggestions - Monster and NPC". The name Aquanite won the Guarenteed Contest Poll over Gilidrixon by 117 votes.

Trivia

  • The Aquanite was released on July 28, 2009 along with the Poison Arrow Pub. It is level 114 and casts magic damage on the player.
  • The new item which came out along with Aquanite was the amulet of ranging which increases range attack and magic defence bonuses by a moderate amount, this item had a starting price of 1.8m gp on the grand exchange.
  • Jagex have stated that it will lurk in a new cave past the Kurasks in the Fremennik Slayer Dungeon and have a special attack. They also stated that the new monster will use water attacks.
  • The examine text may be a referance to the angler fish scene in "Finding Nemo".
