The Aquarium is a room in a player-owned house where players can showcase their Fishing skill. Building a Aquarium requires level 63 Construction and 200,000 coins. The room was suggested on the forums and chosen by players in a Player Power poll.
The Aquarium can only be built on the ground level.
There are fourteen fish to collect through golden fish eggs where each egg collected will unlock one of the fourteen Prawn Perks at the Prawnbroker. Once a cumulative total of 25,000 life points have been fished the player will receive either a prawn ball or prawn cracker. In addition to the fourteen perks, there are an additional four ways of unlocking perks with unlocking all 14 being a completionist cape requirement, and unlocking all perks plus the additional 1, 20, 100 and 200 prawn balls being required for trimmed completionist capes.
There are five types of hotspots available and special objects for underwater usage:
- Centrepiece wall - Scenery.
- Diving suit - An outfit that allows certain daily and weekly rewards to be collected.
- Supply - Scenery.
- Prawnbroker - Location and type of shack the Prawnbroker resides in.

Prestige
Once the Aquarium has been filled with all fourteen fish, a plug can be added to the underwater portion of the Aquarium. It can be used to reset the Aquarium's caught fish but the Prawn Perks will not be reset. Each caught golden fish egg returned to the Aquarium will give a medium experience lamp for Fishing. There are warning messages to ensure that the player understands what will happen by using the plug to prestige.
The first prestige will give the player a fishing animation where the fish are silver coloured and the plug can be replaced with a plug with the RuneScape logo. The second prestige will give the player a fishing animation where the fish are gold coloured and the plug can be replaced by a Stone of Jas inspired plug.
Design document
On 23 February 2015 a design document for the Aquarium was released. It expanded on the perks, going into the collection of prawn balls and prawn crackers, as well as detailing the decorations available for both the surface and underwater aquarium, which may be unlocked from the prawn items.
The aquarium will also introduce the Great white shark, which will be an ingredient for a new food item - sushi. There will be 2 types of sushi, Great Maki and Great Gunkan, requiring seaweed with level 84 Cooking, and kelp with level 91 Cooking, respectively.
