The Arcane blast necklace is currently the best F2P magic amulet, giving a +12 magic attack bonus and 10% magic damage boost. By comparison, the amulet of magic (and the trimmed counterpart) only gives +10 magic attack bonus. The necklace requires 50 magic and 50 Dungeoneering to wear; however, a minimum level of 53 Dungeoneering is required for the 15,500 tokens necessary to buy it.

The standard max hit of Fire Blast, the most damaging offensive spell for F2P mages, is 160. The necklace alone adds a 10% damage multiplier to this damage that adds to bonuses offered by equipment, raising the spell's max hit to 176 for a player wearing the necklace. Contrary to popular belief, damage multipliers gained from the Wizard's Mind Bomb and similar Magic level-boosting items do not add, but rather multiply with equipment bonuses. This means that with a Gravite Staff and the necklace equipped, a player can hit up to 184 life points, 15% above 160; after using a Wizard's Mind Bomb, this new max hit is boosted an additional 9% to 200. For an even higher max hit, if all those items are combined with a Magical blastbox, a 25% critical damage bonus adds up to this. Assuming you have at least 59 magic and you are wearing all those items along with a Magical blastbox, casting Fire blast while on blast mode and also that your hit is a critical hit, you can hit up to an even higher hit, which would be 250, as 25% of 200 is 50.

As of 11 January 2011 the 10% is not applied to salamanders.

Note: Dungeoneering reward items cannot be taken into the dungeons. Additionally, the necklace is not tradeable.
