Revision as of 06:34, 10 October 2017
Ranged armour is generally crafted from tanned monster hides. Currently, cows, cockroach soldiers, yaks, snakes, dragons, and dagannoths are the few creatures which drop hides upon death.
It provides great defence against magic attacks but low defence against melee attacks. Ranged armour is considerably lightweight compared to metal or stone melee armour. Low to medium level ranger armour is also cheaper by comparison.

Pernix armour (tier 80)
Pernix armour was the best set of ranged armour in the game, before the Player-Owned Ports, requiring 80 Ranged, Defence, and Constitution to wear. Its parts are obtained from Nex located in the Ancient Prison, and is considered a rare drop. After 10 hours of combat, it must be repaired (similar to Barrows equipment) before it can be used again. This set of armour is very expensive, even to maintain, and requires 80 Ranged, 80 Defence, and 80 Constitution to wear.

The Anima Core of Zamorak currently is the highest levelled non-degrading set of power armour for rangers. It can be created by combining a Dormant Anima Core item, obtained from any boss in the Heart of Gielinor with a Crest of Zamorak, exclusively obtained from the Twin Furies.
The armour can be charged to a refined version, by using every kind of Heart of Gielinor boss essence on a single piece after reaching 2,000 Zamorak reputation. This armour reverts again to the regular variant upon fully degrading.

Hybrid armour
Pathfinder armour (tier 1)
This armour set is awarded for completing basic path tasks and can be claimed at any time from Gudrik. Items of this set have unusual high defence ratings for their tier, even being able to exceed specialized tier 10 equipment.
Ghost hunter equipment (tier 20, 50 and 70)
This set was initially awarded during the 2014 Hallowe'en event and can now be rarely obtained as drops from ghosts and ghost like creatures such as aberrant spectres, revenants, spiritual warriors and the Barrows Brothers. It automatically adjusts to the highest-level tier the player can equip when worn, up to a maximum of level 50 for free players and level 70 for members. The set boosts the experience granted from using an ectoplasmator by up to 10 %, depending on the amount of pieces worn.
Warpriest armour (tier 25, 50 and 75)
Warpriest armour were initially handed out during the Battle of Lumbridge, The Bird and the Beast and Tuska Comes world events. The Saradomin, Zamorak, Armadyl and Bandos sets can now be obtained as a drop from a respective god's minions in God Wars Dungeon with their drop rate improved for players having purchased them at the original event, while the Tuska set ist a reward from the Anima Islands. As with the Ghost hunter equipment, Warpriest armour automatically scales to the highest tier a player can wear, up to maximum of 50 for free players and 75 for members. While free players are able to equip the sets, they're not able to obtain them outside of world events. The sets have the following passive effects, that can start occuring with 3 pieces equipped and reach maximum strength with a full set equipped. Pieces of different sets, but granting the same set bonus can be combined in order to contribute to their bonus.
- Saradomin/Zamorak: Chance of reducing damge taken by 90 %.
- Armadyl/Bandos: Chance of reducing active cooldowns.
- Tuska: Increasing critical strike chance by 1 % per piece equipped.
The Anima Core of Sliske is able to adapt the effect of one of those sets.
Golden tier 75 only variants of all sets, bar the tuska one were handed out during Balthazar's Big Raffle in 2014 and 2017.
Void Knight armour (tier 42)
The set grants the player a +3% bonus towards accuracy and 5% - 7% bonus towards damage in the typing of the helm, if the player is wearing at least three pieces of Void Knight equipment. It requires 42 Attack, Strength, Defence, Constitution, Ranged, and Magic with 22 Prayer to buy and wear them.
As some players find it more effective to wear full black dragonhide armour than a full set of Void Knight armour, due to the defence and life points bonuses, this item is not frequently bought. However, those who do buy it can see a higher max hit and a higher average hit. Additionally, it classes as a hybrid set (besides the helmet), and as such gives equal magic, ranged and melee defence, making it an alternative choice in minigames where hybriding is common.

Dragonstone armour (tier 50)
This armour is obtained very rarely from opening Crystal chests and Triskelion Treasures. While only members are able to obtain it, it can be traded to and used by free players as well.
Obsidian equipment (tier 60)
While this armour just offers fairly low stats for its requirement of completing The Brink of Extinction quest, it offers extremely good offensive and defensive properties while fighting in TzHaar City and its various minigames.
Dragon Rider armour (tier 70)
Pieces of this sets can rarely be obtained as a drop from Celestial dragons. Notably, each piece of this armour currently offers the highest prayer bonus for their slots.
Boots and Gloves are obtained as tier 60 items from the King Black Dragon and can be upgraded to a superior tier 70 variant. Despite its tier, this armour isn't augmentable.
House Drakan outfit (tier 70)
This set is awarded during the quest Lord of Vampyrium. It notably allows players to deceive Vyres in Darkmeyer just as the statless Darkmeyer disguise. Despite its tier, this armour isn't augmentable.
High Armour of Hanto (tier 70)
Pieces of the set can be purchased for chimes and taijitu at the Waiko Reward Shop in The Arc. Initially the pieces were obtained during the Beyond the Arc promotion on Treasure Hunter.
Lost items can be reclaimed at Diango for a fee.
Crystal armour (tier 70 and 80)
Pieces of this set can be earned by exchanging Tarddian crystals with Angof after completing The Light Within. It offers several passive combat and skilling bonuses depending on the amount of pieces worn.
An untradeable, attuned tier 80 version with more powerful effects can be obtained the same way. Both kinds of armour can degrade to a broken state and are not augmentable.
Gemstone armour (tier 80)
Pieces of this set can be obtained by slaying dragonstone dragons, onyx dragons and hydrix dragons. Players can charge it with uncut dragonstones, uncut onyx or incomplete hydrix in order to activate an effect upon attacking similar to enchanted bolts using the same gem tips. Those effects can occur upon wearing at least three pieces, with more pieces increasing that chance. Despite its tier it can't be augmented.
Anima Core of Sliske (tier 80 and 85)
The Anima Core of Sliske currently is the highest levelled non-degrading set of hybrid armour. It can be created by combining a Dormant Anima Core item, obtained from any boss in the Heart of Gielinor with a Crest of Sliske, exclusively obtained from Gregorovic. This set is able to utilise the effects of any warpriest armour owned.
The armour can be charged to a refined version, by using every kind of Heart of Gielinor boss essence on a single piece after reaching 2,000 Sliskean reputation. This armour reverts again to the regular variant upon fully degrading.
PvP armour
Morrigan's armour (tier 78 and 88)
Members can obtain these armour pieces as rare drops by killing Revenants. There are two versions of this equipment. Corrupted items require only 20 ranged and 40 defence, but last only 15 minutes, while the normal items require 78 ranged and defence levels and lasts 1 hour.
A superior and augmentable version can be obtained by upgrading an item by using an Ancient warriors' equipment patch obtained from Bounty Hunter.

Ranger boots and robin hood hats are rare rewards from Treasure Trails, archers' rings can be obtained by killing Dagannoth Supreme under Waterbirth Island, archer helms can be bought from Rellekka after completing The Fremennik Trials quest and Glaiven Boots can be acquired from Glacors after Ritual of the Mahjarrat. Also, if you have 110 combat, you can enter the Dominion Tower and unlock Swift Gloves, which grant several benefits, including damage reduction and an occasional damage bonus. However, they are degradable and don't last long.
