The augmented crystal pickaxe is a melee main-hand weapon and tool. It is created by using an augmentor on a crystal pickaxe and requires level 70 attack to wield. Tool gizmos charged with perks may be attached, boosting its mining abilities. Even though the augmented pickaxe can be used as a weapon, weapon gizmos cannot be attached. Using the pickaxe for combat purposes will not contribute towards the item level experience, but will drain charges at the same rate as mining.
Mining with an augmented crystal pickaxe will award item level experience equal to ~11.8% of the Mining experience gained.
Doc is able to assist players who have a crystal pickaxe on their tool belt and wish to remove and augment it. To do so, speak with him in the Invention Guild after discovering the augmented pickaxe blueprint (unlocks at level 22 Invention) at an Inventor's workbench; an augmentor must be in the player's inventory and will be consumed. This can only be done once. After augmentation, tools cannot be placed back on the tool belt.
Players have the option to convert the augmented crystal pickaxe into a version which cannot be used in combat and requires no combat stats to wield (by right-clicking the item in the inventory). This option is generally only useful to those without 70 Attack. This operation can be reversed.
The Augmented crystal pickaxe uses charges stored in the universal charge pack. When the charge pack runs out of charges, the item loses stats and gizmo effects, and can also no longer gain any equipment experience. Function will resume when the pack is recharged with divine charges.
