It was initially discovered along with the hat and robe bottoms through quick chat, as an item that can be stored in a player's toy box in their player-owned house, and was listed in the seasonal items guide section of the game guide on the official RuneScape website.
Avalani's robe top, along with Avalani's hat, Avalani's robe bottoms, and the rock fragment, are the rewards from the Cryptic Clue Fest III. If a player failed to complete the Cryptic Clue Fest III, completing the Cryptic Clue Fest IV will allow players to retrieve Avalani's robes as well.
