A Banner is a decorative flag made on a Banner easel in a Player-owned house. Players need 48 Crafting or higher and must have been assigned a crest by Sir Renitee in the White Knights' Castle. Sir Renitee will not assign a crest unless the player has over level 16 Construction. A player's first crest assignment is free, and it costs 5000 coins to change the crest to another one; however, some crests have other requirements, detailed below. Players can use a Banner easel in another player's house if they do not have one. The banners are untradeable and give no stat bonuses. To make one, you use a plank and a bolt of cloth on a banner easel. Note: You have to have the crest to make a banner you want.

Note: The Saradomin and Zamorak banners will not offer any protection in the God Wars Dungeon.

You cannot use the assist system to make a banner.

Trivia

File:Rs banner glitch.gif

A glitch found at the Lumbridge Castle.

  • The examine information of the Horse banner is in reference to a running gag in RuneScape in which horses are said not to exist. This gag started with the 2004 April Fools event.
  • Players wielding a banner used to still stand, walk, and run as characters did before the large graphical makeover. Other weapons that caused this effect were the Chinchompa, Rubber chicken, Noose wand and the Rat pole. In the patch notes released on 26 October 2009, the banners had their animations updated, but players still seem to have walked as they did before the graphical update. Previously the Mud pie also caused this effect. After the release of the final fairy quest, the animations were updated once again so that they are on par with the other new animations.
  • The banners stretch when worn with a Slayer helmet.
  • When players wield banners and walk under platforms in the Tree Gnome Stronghold, the banner goes right through the platform and appears coming out the top.
  • You cannot rest or listen to a musician while a banner is equipped. You can only rest while a banner is equipped on a F2P world.
  • If you try to bring a banner into Castle Wars you get the message "You cannot take a banner into the arena."
  • File:Bannerfault.png

A banner sticking out of the interface.

Some banners are held a little higher than others (Arrav & Varrock for example) this is most likely a glitch.
  • There is a glitch, in which the top of the banner is cut off by the second floor ledge of the Lumbridge Castle, if you stand directly in front of it.
  • The banner is the tallest weapon in the game, about 1.75x the player's height.
  • There used to be a glitch that when you wore a banner and went to your 'equipment stats' screen the banner would stick out of the interface.
