Barrows dye is obtained from hard and elite clue scrolls. All tier 90 armour and weapons can be dyed with it. Once the dye is applied to an item, it becomes repairable and untradeable. The dye cannot be removed by any means.
A warning message is given if the player wants to use the dye on that equipment.
In hard clues, barrows dye has a 1/5 chance of being obtained from the 'barrows dye table', which is accessed with a 9/10 chance from the dye drop table, which has a 1/96 chance of being accessed from the rare drop table, which in turn has a 1/16 chance of being accessed from the standard table (per drop slot). This means that barrows dye has a 3 in 25,600 chance of being obtained per drop slot - if 5 items are obtained, the probability of getting 1 (or more) barrows dyes is slightly below 3/5120 (~0.05858%).
