Bernie is the skilling pet obtainable from Firemaking. He is unlocked by inspecting Bernie pet. All regular Firemaking methods have a chance of granting this item, including cremation, deployable herb burners and the inferno adze's special effect. Protean logs cannot be used to get Bernie. - In the development stage, an idea for the Firemaking pet was a Dalmatian, which is a dog commonly associated with fire stations.[1]
- Bernie's animation changes when the player informs him he is on fire. He runs with his arms up in the air. This is reset on logging out.
- His appearance resembles the Yu-Gi-Oh! card Inpachi.
- His name is a pun on "burn".
