The black cane is a weapon obtained as a reward from Level 1 treasure trails. It requires level 8 Attack to wield, unlike other black weapons which require level 25 Attack. Its damage is lower than an iron mace, and its accuracy is equivalent to a bronze mace, making its use as a weapon negligible and is often used as a sign of wealth instead. The black cane is often worn with elegant clothing in a further show of wealth, such as a top hat, black elegant costume, and pirate boots to create the look of a wealthy gentleman. This has made it more valuable than the adamant and rune canes, despite its weaker stats and availability from lower level clue scrolls. Like all treasure trail items, the cane can be stored in a Treasure chest in a Player-owned house. The cane is topped with a cut sapphire gem and has a dark blue body.

As with all black equipment, this item cannot be made from raw materials using the Smithing skill.
