Blood dye is a possible reward from Treasure Trails. It is only a rare reward from elite clue scrolls[1] with a drop chance between that of shadow dye and third-age dye. In a Developer Q&A on 2 March 2016, it was revealed that the drop chance is similar to third-age dye, and that only 52 have ever been received.[2] Like all other Treasure Trails dyes, players can use it to dye tier 90 weapons and power armour. Once the dye is applied to an item, that item permanently becomes untradeable, and the dye cannot be removed by any means. It is currently not possible to dye tier 90 tank armour. A warning message is given if the player attempts to use dye on eligible equipment.

When added to armour, it renders the armour repairable by using the raw materials to replenish charges. The repair mechanics of dyed weapons remain unchanged.

There is a Server-wide Announcement for players who receive blood dye.[3] Players can use it to colour tier 90 power armour and weapons red. The idea was originally suggested on RuneLabs.
