The Bonecrusher is a reward from the Dungeoneering skill. It requires 21 Dungeoneering and 21 Prayer. It costs 34,000 tokens at the rewards trader and is for members only. When a player has a Bonecrusher present in his or her inventory, all bones dropped by monster kills, or obtained from hunting, will be automatically converted into Prayer experience.

Uses

The item needs only to be kept in the player's inventory for it to take effect and may be found useful if players have a tendency to leave bones on the ground and not bury them. When a monster is killed with a Bonecrusher in the player's inventory, Prayer experience is rewarded in a way similar to Slayer experience (with bones missing from the drops), with no animation or anything similar occurring. This means that this item won't slow players down at all compared to leaving bones on the ground. The Bonecrusher has no effect on drops when it is left in the bank and will not work if LootShare or CoinShare is active.

If a monster drops more than one bone, such as bloodvelds or jogres often do, only the bones that are dropped as remains will be buried. The rest will appear on the ground as usual, as they are a separate drop. Also, long or curved bones will not be buried by the bonecrusher, as these are a separate drop too.

Players should be wary that the Bonecrusher (though not tradeable) holds very low value, and it is very likely to be of those items lost upon death. There is no way to replace a lost Dungeoneering reward except to earn more tokens and purchase a new reward. It is recommended that such items as the Bonecrusher be used only when a player can be certain his/her character will not die or unless the bonecrusher is not a risked item. In the event that a player does lose the Bonecrusher upon death, it will appear under his/her Gravestone.

Trivia

  • Before the 21 April 2010 update, the price of the Bonecrusher was 110,000 tokens.
  • A glitch can occur if an action is performed whilst a monster is in its dying animation where the monsters bones will drop onto the floor, an example is using the dragon claws special attack whilst another monster is about to die.
  • Although it requires level 21 Dungeoneering to use, it is impossible to obtain a Bonecrusher at this level. The first level at which players can get the bonecrusher is level 62, because this is when 340,000 experience is achieved (34,000 tokens).
  • Previously, the Bonecrusher would not bury bones from hunting. This was fixed with an update on 27 May 2010.
  • Despite being a Chisel, it cannot perform tasks such as cutting gems.
  • The Bonecrusher currently has no effect on the Big Bones dropped by Bork.
  • When any kind of bones in the inventory are used on the bonecrusher, it will give the message: "The bonecrusher will only grant Prayer experience for bones that are fresh from a kill."
