The Boneguard is a monster found during Enakhra's Lament. It is an enchanted creature, bound to guard Enakhra's Temple against its will. It asks you to assist it in weakening Enahkra's influence on it by building up the wall using sandstone blocks found nearby. Doing so breaks the enchantment and it is revealed to be the Mahjarrat Akthanakos, archrival of Enakhra.

Trivia

• Prior to the Evolution of Combat, there were two Boneguards found in Enahkra's temple. The first Boneguard found before encountering Akthanakos required the use of the Crumble Undead spell and the player climb over its bones. As the spell was removed, the Boneguard no longer makes an appearance, but the Level 13 Pile of bones it left behind is still present.
• Also as a result of the Evolution of Combat, the requirement to use Protect from Melee against Akthanakos' Boneguard form was removed, likely due to the prayer no longer giving full invulnerability to damage.
