The Book of Death is a reward from Death's Store. It is a pocket slot item that grants combat stats and provides a small chance to instantly kill monsters or deal damage to bosses.

The ability to craft the book can be unlocked for 500 reaper points. A cut hydrix and four Death notes are used to make the book. This requires level 80 Crafting.

The book has 100,000 charges of combat, after which it degrades to a broken, unusable state. Each book activation will use 200 charges (0.2%) of its total charge, resulting in a maximum of 500 activations. The book can be repaired by 25% by using additional Death notes.

Creating the Book of Death currently costs 33,751,963 coins, and a full recharge (four death notes) costs 7,679,820 coins.

Passive

Book of Death being used to instantly kill a hydrix dragon.

The passive has a 1/30 chance per hit to activate. When it activates, this will instantly kill the monster, or it will deal up to 5,000 damage to bosses.

The book can only activate when the target monster has a high proportion of life points - it won't activate if the monster has been significantly damaged. The book is most effective when killing many high-level non-boss monsters, ideally high-level slayer targets like Hydrix Dragons, Onyx Dragons, Dragonstone Dragons, Bulbous crawlers, Moss Golems, Edimmu, Camel Warriors, Ripper Demons, Acheron Mammoths, and Wyverns. It is essentially always more effective to use a God Book, Berserk blood essence, or damage-/accuracy-boosting scrimshaw when fighting bosses, and more cost-effective to use Attacker's insignia or other pocket slot items when fighting lower level monsters.
