Box baubles were used in the 2005 Christmas event, in which they would be delivered to the Christmas tree in the centre of Varrock after being painted for a reward. Players could get box baubles by either shaking imps or picking them up from Diango's Workshop.

They featured again in the 2016 Christmas event.
