The broken heart is a holiday item obtained by trading in 1,000 Valentine hearts on the hate side. Valentine Hearts can be obtained by skilling, combat, and the Squeal of Fortune from February 14 to February 25, 2013.

The rosethorn wand and broken heart were both a possible reward by redeeming 225 rose petals obtainable via skilling, combat and Treasure Hunter during 12 February to 16 February 2015. It was also made available in the 2017 event obtainable via Mystery Box.
