[FAQ] [doc]
File:Progress being halted.png

A player whose progress had been temporarily halted when brutes could not be passed through

Brutes are Dungeoneering monsters that reside in Daemonheim. They are members of the Rammernaut Guard. They can hit very high with melee. They take up 2x2 floor tiles and originally could not be walked through, unlike most monsters. However, this has since been changed, and Brutes are now passable.

Crush or stab weapons seem to work nicely but Magic is effective as well. It is highly inadvisable to use ranged attacks against brutes. It is recommended to use the Protect from Melee prayer as they can hit very hard and fairly accurately. Another technique is to trap them behind obstacles as they have a body size that can be easily trapped.

Hoskins, one of the rammernauts in Daemonheim, appears to be a promoted brute that is now captain of the Rammernaut Guard.

Monster-specific drops

These monsters can drop various mauls. The maul that is dropped corresponds to the brute's combat level, not the maul that they are wielding. For example, only the level 143 brutes can drop promethium mauls. The guard room key is only dropped by brutes in the sleeping guard room.
