Buddy was a pet won from Christmas presents and Big Christmas presents during the 2014 Christmas event. In total, there were 100,000 Buddy pets available to win. He can also be claimed using a Buddy pet token which were obtained during the Going Like Clockwork event.

When Buddy was won from a present, a message in the chatbox read "It appears as though one of Santa's elves has fallen into the present box. The head elf says you can keep them as a follower!" and a news message to friends: News: Player has unlocked the elf pet from a present!
