Unfinished potion calculators

How do these calculators work? First of all, we have the normal process of Herblore:

• Obtain a grimy herb. Buy, find, or farm.
• Clean it. A specific level is required. By cleaning, experience is gained and the clean version of the herb is obtained.
• Add to a vial of water or coconut milk. A specific level is required to add a clean herb into a vial of water or coconut milk. An unfinished potion is obtained.
• Add secondary ingredient. When this ingredient is added, experience is gained, much more than the experience gained for cleaning the herb.
• Sell the finished potion.
  • Alternatively, potions can be mixed with caviar or roe to gain barbarian mix potions. Experience is gained by mixing caviar or roe.

Here we calculate the profit/cost for 3 cases:

1. Buy a grimy herb, clean it, make an unfinished potion, and sell it.
2. Buy a clean herb, make an unfinished potion, and sell it.
3. Buy an unfinished potion, add the secondary ingredient, and sell it.

Scroll of Cleansing

• The Scroll of Cleansing is a Dungeoneering Reward that costs 20,000 tokens
• It has a 1 in 10 (the long term/ large amount chance is 11.11%, see scroll of cleansing for detail of calculation) chance of saving a secondary when mixing potions. This effect may save the herb you are mixing with a vial of water, or the secondary ingredient you are adding to an unfinished potion
• The potion will be mixed 1 tick faster if the scroll activates.

Portable well

• The Portable well is a Treasure Hunter reward that costs 37449 coins.
• Deploying it lasts 5 minutes and can be extended for up to 1 hour.
• Mixing a potion within 1 square of the well will increase Herblore XP by 10% and 5% chance to mix a duplicate potion.

Assumptions

• All calculations are based on the 3-dose potion prices using live data from the Grand Exchange Market Watch.
• For potions based on a vial of coconut milk, the process cannot be split. This is because the unfinished potion with coconut milk is not tradeable.
• A vial of water costs 96 coins.
• Combining the herb and vial of water grants 1 additional XP, which is factored in.
• BXP and the botanist's outfit are excluded. The only exception is in profit column 4 where the modified botanist's mask effect is added and thus ownership of the entire outfit is assumed.

Grimy herb to unfinished potion

The table below shows costs of grimy herb, vial of water and selling as unfinished potion. The table also shows the experience gained when cleaning the herbs. The first profit column set is without any bonuses, the second set is with the estimated scroll of cleansing effect, the third set also includes the portable well effect, the fourth set also includes the modified botanist's outfit bonuses.

Unfinished potion to potion

This is a calculator figuring out the cost per xp for making potions from the half made unfinished potion versions. Using unfinished potions gives xp at a faster rate than using herbs.
