Elite Mobs concept art - Camel

Concept art

Camel Warriors (also known as Ugthanatos) are slayer creatures that require level 96 Slayer to kill.

According to The Ugthanatos, Akthanakos created the Ugthanatos to deal with his nemesis, Enakhra. He expressed gladness at the results, as they had the traits he desired and had powerful combat skills due to giving them the ability to manipulate limbs, which regular camels did not have. The Ugthanatos worship Akthanakos, calling him the "Camel God".

Location

Ten Camel Warriors inhabit the island east of Sophanem. The island is accessed via an Agility shortcut on its northern side, and has no requirements to use. The island is affected by desert heat. Completion of Icthlarin's Little Helper is recommended for the tunnel shortcut near Amascut's camp and Contact! will allow for fast banking trips.

Mechanics

Camel Warriors are similar to Glacors when fighting them. This means they must be killed solo. Upon initiating combat with the camel, it will almost immediately disappear and in its place will be three mirages, the shadow, smoke and blood mirage. They must be killed in order to proceed. Only the mirages use spells from the ancient spellbook; the camels themselves use a simple magic attack representing a tornado. In melee distance, the camel will attempt to bash the player with its staff, while its ranged attack looks like camel spit.

The blood mirage will heal the other mirages. The shadow mirage will build up a meter. When it reaches 100% it will use a curse which will drain your prayer by 50%. All mirages are able to cast ancient spells, each with different effects: Smoke lowers accuracy by 5%, Shadow lowers damage by 5%, Blood heals and Ice binds for 10 seconds. All three mirages are weak to thrown attacks and the camel warrior is weak to crush attacks. After the three mirages are slain, the camel warrior will reappear in the location of the last mirage killed.

When fighting the camel warrior themselves, although they are not immune to stuns, stunning them is not recommended. Once the camel breaks free of a stun or bind, it will unleash three sandstorms at the player's last location, dealing 50 damage initially then doubling every tick afterwards until it disappears. This attack is signalled by the camel bashing its staff on the ground. This sandstorm will last even after the camel is killed, so it is best to move away from the sandstorm when it is present.

Trivia

  • If a player's attack misses against a Camel Warrior, they will not retaliate back, even though other monsters retaliate back when attacked, even if the player's attack misses.
  • The artwork's portrayal of the Camel Warrior smoking is likely a reference to the Camel cigarette brand.
