It is possible, due to the presence of Zarosian gravestones, that the fortress was razed and that survivors built the graveyard to bury those who were killed in battle. This seems even more plausible when you remember that Carrallangar was attacked to erase Zaros from memory. The followers of Saradomin and Zamorak certainly wouldn't place the symbol of Zaros on the graves. New corpses and various carts almost certainly belong to visitors and travelers killed by the undead, which themselves were probably risen by the magic that created the Wilderness in the first place.

This seems even more plausible when you remember that Carrallangar was attacked to erase Zaros from memory, as well as the seemingly rushed haphazard shape of the outer fencing and the simple wooden graves. As for the stone graves, logic would say that the followers of Saradomin and Zamorak would never carve the symbol of Zaros into them. Carrallangar as it appears today.

Carrallangar was one of Zaros's fortresses that resided in current-day wilderness. It was destroyed during the Third Age, when Zaros's soldiers were being wiped out by followers of Zamorak and Saradomin. Carrallangar stood where the Graveyard of Shadows resides today, in level 19 wilderness (Between the Wilderness Volcano and the location where the Clan Wars activity used to be). Those with the knowledge of Ancient Magicks spells from the completion of the Desert Treasure quest can utilise the Zarosian spell Carrallangar Teleport to teleport there with the required 84 Magic, 2 Soul runes and 2 Law runes.

It is possible, due to the presence of Zarosian gravestones, that the fortress was razed and that survivors built the graveyard to bury those who were killed in battle. New corpses and various carts almost certainly belong to visitors and travelers killed by the undead, which themselves were probably risen by the magic that created the Wilderness in the first place.
