Cavern of Tainted Memories is a Treasure Hunter promotion, originally released in February 2018. During the promotion players can enter a cavern in Burthorpe once daily for free, or more often by using a cavern of tainted memories ticket which can be won from Treasure Hunter or bought from the Grand Exchange. Players cannot enter the cavern with items equipped. The cavern can only be accessed for 2 minutes and 30 seconds, after which the player has to leave the cavern.
In the cavern players can harvest tainted essence from the tained wisps. Players can get either Divination experience or mystery rewards, and standing in the green multiplier locations will increase the rewards. Players can speak to Kristlin to switch between Divination experience and the mystery rewards. Tainted chronicles can also be caught in the cavern for additional currency. Tainted essence can also be won from Treasure Hunter or obtained when training Divination.
This currency, tainted essence, can be used to make the purified weapon overrides:
- Main and off-hand swords
- Great sword
- Halberd
- Main and off-hand crossbows
- Two-handed crossbow
- Shortbow
- Staff
- Wand and orb
The tokens for these weapon overrides are also obtainable from Treasure Hunter.
