Chemical compound is a members-only quest item. It is used in the Digsite Quest to blow up bricks blocking the path below the digsite. It is used with bricks and is lit with a tinderbox. It is made by combining nitroglycerin, ammonium nitrate, ground charcoal and arcenia root (requires Herblore level 10). Making a chemical compound gives 7 Herblore experience. People with Dharok's occasionally drop this as Dharok's hits harder if the player wearing it has low health. Dropping this item will inflict up to 650 damage on the player!

Trivia
- An update sometime in 2009 by Jagex changed the way these items work, as a continuous drop of self-damaging items can no longer lead to self-inflicted death; The player will always remain with at least 20-30 life points.
- The ingredient Ammonium nitrate requires you to open the panning area chest with the Chest key (Digsite), which cannot be obtained after the quest. If you have not kept the key, you can ask another person with the key to open the chest for you.
