A player fighting with the Saradomin sword, a weapon obtainable from Commander Zilyana and her bodyguards.

Commander Zilyana is the leader of Saradomin's army in the God Wars Dungeon. She uses extremely accurate melee and magic attacks and can hit a maximum of 31, which is quite low compared to the other generals in the dungeon. However, her attacks are extremely rapid compared to the other generals and are about the speed of throwing knives. Thus, both of her types of attacks are capable of doing 60+ damage in about 3 seconds, making her extremely dangerous compared to the other bosses, who have one weak attack that deals 30 damage, and another powerful attack that deals 60+ damage in 3 seconds. Also, her magic attack is multi-target, so Protect from Magic and good defensive armour is advised. The Commander attacks with her multi-target magic attack when her sword glows with a bright blue aura and she raises it in the air. This animation is annoying, and misleading because in the middle of the animation, she will launch another attack. if players are using the Protect from Magic prayer, or if the magic attack misses, nothing happens. However, if the attack does hit, a small wall of lightning will appear around the player. She attacks with melee when she simply slashes at the player with her sword. Her sword does not glow when she melees. Players must have 70 agility as well as two coils of rope and 40 kills on Saradominists to reach her. She has 3 guards: Growler (magic), Bree (ranged) and Starlight (melee). She is also said to be an Icyene, an ancient race of winged beings, chosen by Saradomin to guard his hilt. She also drops her weapon, the mighty Saradomin sword.

Commander Zilyana should not be underestimated, as she is the sixth strongest monster in RuneScape, after General Graardor, K'ril Tsutsaroth, TzTok-Jad, the Spirit Beast and the Corporeal Beast, and so is the fifth highest leveled attackable monster, as the Spirit Beast cannot be attacked.

Soloing Method

The soloing method involves a tactic known as Hit-and-Run, also used when grouping her. What you basically do is you attack Zilyana, and quickly move back before she can attack you. If you melee, you will take 1 or 2 hits. However, if you range, you can keep hitting and running, and restoring energy with purple sweets or with Tireless Run Scrolls.

Players should run from corner to corner, because Zilyana chases you from corner to corner.

Zilyana can kill you VERY fast with her melee attacks, depending on your defence and hitpoints levels if you are in her melee range, so avoiding her head on is highly encouraged. She attacks as fast as darts and can hit in the low 30s.

If you need to eat or drink Saradomin Brews, drink or eat, and run to another corner, repeat until your health is full.

Zamorak Godswords are very useful as the special attack freezes Zilyana for 20 seconds, giving you plenty of time to eat and prepare.

Unlike the other bosses in the God Wars Dungeon, Commander Zilyana is a Commander opposed to the other 3 bosses being Generals. There is no known General for Saradomin and no explanation for why she is only a Commander.

The safe spot for Commander Zilyana was removed on February 14, 2008
