Crafting catalyst was removed from RuneScape after an update, but still exists in-game for those who had obtained it.

Crafting catalyst detail

Crafting catalysts are items that were obtainable from Treasure Hunter from 13 November to 24 November 2014. When equipped, it increases the speed of crafting leather, cutting gems and shaping metals (e.g., making gold rings), with one catalyst consumed per craft. Crafting catalysts can be used when crafting protean hides. Players also receive a leather case, gem focus or metal setting directly into their bank, depending on the type of craft. These three items can then be combined to make a summoning focus.

Players can trade in excess summoning focus parts for other parts at the Master Crafter in the Crafting Guild. Those without the requirements to get in can talk with him by trying to open the door.

Trivia[]

  • On the 26th of November 2014, Mod Obeith stated in a reply to the questioning of the removal of Crafting Catalyst, leather case, gem focus and metal setting from Runescape completely "Crafting Catalysts have been taken off of TH but the items won from there will not be removed. Therefore unused catalysts, uncombined focuses parts and the completed focuses will not be removed so you are free to keep them and use them when you want."
  • In chemistry, a catalyst is a substance that is used to increase the rate of a chemical reaction. This is reflected by how the crafting catalyst also increases the speed of crafting items.
