A cursed magic tree is a tree a player can chop down using the Woodcutting skill. It can only be cut after the Spirit of Summer quest. It can be found in the Spirit Realm accessed from the Ruins, north-east of the flower patch. Players must have a Woodcutting level of 82 or higher to attempt to chop down the cursed magic tree. It was released on 29 July 2008 with the Spirit of Summer quest.

Chopping the tree produces cursed magic logs and gives 275 Woodcutting experience. The cursed magic logs cannot be fletched, but they can be burned by players with a Firemaking level of 75. The cursed magic logs turn to normal magic logs after leaving the Spirit Realm. When the cursed magic tree is cut down, a normal magic tree will appear in the Wilderness. After cutting the magic tree, the cursed tree will respawn. This means that a player is able to cut magic logs constantly without the wait of the respawn.

This tree makes the Wilderness an acceptable woodcutting area, albeit a dangerous one due to the PKers. A ring of life is recommended.

Trivia[]

  • The logs are said to not be used in Fletching as the resulting arrows would turn back around to the shooter. This states that the logs are indeed cursed, and using them as arrows or bows would result it being a very dangerous and ineffective weapon for the shooter.
  • On 13 December 2011 the Wilderness received a graphical update, during this time the functionality of these trees was lost, thus causing the regular and cursed tree to not spawn. This was a glitch and has been patched.
