Dagannoth guardians are powerful Dagannoth that lurk in the southern caverns of Waterbirth Island leading to the Dagannoth Mother first encountered during Blood Runs Deep. Compared to other Dagannoth inhabiting Waterbirth Island, they are extremely accurate and have very high defence. Like all Dagannoth, they are weak against Balmung making them good for slayer tasks and even training because of the high life points and high slayer xp.

They seem to be aggressive to all players and do not become tolerant after a certain amount of time. Like Goraks, they will always attempt to attack whether or not the player is already under attack, even though the area is not multi-combat.

Dagannoth guardians do not drop charms, however, they do drop Medium clue scrolls fairly often.

If you use the Protect from Melee prayer or the Deflect Melee curse, the Dagannoth guardian will use its ranged attack until it dies or until you put a Missile prayer on, at that point, it will go back to its melee attack.

You should also note, that you cannot use a dwarf multicannon in the dungeon. You'll get a warning that it's too dark to work properly.

Trivia

• Unlike other monsters, Dagannoth Guardians do not wander around unless they are targeting a player.
• Dagannoth Guardians look like they are wearing metal armguards which seems to indicate the Dagannoths have a source of metal or fabricate their own.
• Killing a Dagannoth Guardian using a Balmung does not count towards the Axe'll Grease Elite Fremennik Task.
