A Decorated mining urn can be created at 59 Crafting on a Potter's wheel, requiring 2 soft clay to make. Clicking "Take BoB" during crafting brings clay to inventory without interruption. It is used with the Mining skill to help with gaining experience. The urn is filled when the player has earned 3,125 Mining experience with the urn in their inventory. Once the decorated mining urn is full, it becomes a decorated mining urn (full) and can be teleported to Ernie for 625 Mining experience. Players without the level of crafting to place the rune in the urn may request-assist other players to do so. You may only own 10 full urns in your inventory/bank at once, if you have more than 10 full urns a new one will not be started. This is probably to prevent mass xp gaining at once from teleporting the urns.
Extra gems found while mining will not fill the urn, though mining gem rocks will. If you use a sacred clay pickaxe it will not fill up the urn twice as quickly. Furthermore, a Penance Horn will not give double experience when teleporting urns. Mining at the Lava Flow Mine or mining a Shooting Star does not fill the urn. If mining multiple ores at once, using either Varrock armour or the reward effect of a Shooting Star, the urn only fills with xp from the first ore. The others do not count. Mining sandstone and granite also fills up the urn. If a second urn is present, slivers leftover from a just filled urn will carry over to it.
Juju mining potion's effects don't interrupt the urn's performance - the ore mined and immediately banked by a stone spirit counts for filling the urn.
