Disk of returning detail

The Disk of returning was used to let players exit the Black Hole in RuneScape Classic. At the time, a non-player character called Thordur sold them for 10 coins, while now they sell for a price of 915,870,738 coins on the Grand Exchange. This item is the oldest rare or discontinued item in the game, beating out the pumpkin as this disk was created back in July 2001.

People that were banned were put into a hole and trapped there until their ban was over. A lot of people got themselves banned just to see the hole, so Jagex made a failed mock hole and created a disk to let players out once they went in. The disks no longer have any function besides their incredible value, as the black hole no longer exists.

The failed mock black hole and disk of returning were removed because of a scam involving convincing players to drop their disk while in the black hole, thus trapping them until assisted out by Jagex. The disks were left in game, but no longer had any use because they removed the black hole.

On 9 June 2011, the inventory image of the Disk of returning changed. The old image was File:Disk of returning.PNG.
