The Dragonstone purple present was a 2012 Holiday item that could be combined with other presents using the present collection to receive rewards such as the Christmas tree hat. It was obtained from the Squeal of Fortune, and Skilling (i.e, Mining).
It was the rarest of all the Christmas presents, making it the most sought after and expensive present to buy from other players. Though it was tradeable, it is not available on the Grand Exchange.
A few days after release, it was announced that between Friday the 21st of December 00:00 and Monday the 24th of December 23:59, that the chance of receiving this, and many other presents, would be increased.
Despite being scheduled to be removed on 14 January 2013, the presents were removed a week later, on 21 January 2013.

- On the day of release, the dragonstone purple present was being bought/sold at prices way above the market price, despite the fact that it was available to be obtained for the rest of December. Street prices even ranged from 35-65 million at times .
