Dreadnaut is a boss monster encountered on the Warped floors. This boss requires a Dungeoneering level of 95 to encounter and fight. His main attack style is melee and a multi-targeted ranged attack, and he also uses a special attack that disables your protection prayers or deflect curses for 5 seconds. Nonetheless, Protect from Melee is strongly advised.

Dreadnaut is in fact the captain of the Rammernaut guard Hoskins, except he is corrupted by the tainted magic that affects the Warped floors due to their closeness to The Rift. He appears to have grown a lump in the back and had his shield transformed into an eye.

Running around the room while using magic is not as safe as it may seem. Running away and using magic is only useful before he shouts "You can't run forever!" lowering your magic level by 10% of whatever amount of damage is dealt to you with a multi-target steam attack.

He, like Rammernaut, can also disable prayer, where he will point his shield at you and it will shoot a red beam, which also causes damage, hits through prayer and disables them. One of his special attacks consists of him spawning orange blobs on the ground. They stay for a while and cause damage if stood on, and also drain prayer rapidly.

It is now possible to autocast combat spells even if your magic stat drops below the required level, which means you may run around the room and use magic. Be cautious when using this technique because his magic draining special attack may reduce your magic below the level required to teleport, which will trap you inside the boss room, unable to escape. Bringing magic or restore potions may prevent this from occurring.

Arguably the best way to fight him when rushing is to have a couple people running away while using magic, and the others using melee while he tries to attack the mages.

The boss is more common on the earliest Warped floors (Floor 48 to Floor 50)

Trivia

Dreadnaut eye

The eye on Dreadnaut's arm.

  • The examine text seems to indicate that Dreadnaut is under the mind-control of a stalker, similar to the way sea slugs control minds. Or, more likely, it could be referring to his shield, which has mutated into an eye.
  • In Dreadnaut's room, if a player looks in the map the ladder has the red lines of a door rather than a ladder.
Dreadnaut kills brutes

Dreadnaut killing two Brutes.

  • Sometimes before fighting Dreadnaut, there are a couple of Brutes standing nearby trying to talk to him. Both Brutes talk back and forth saying that something isn't right, before Dreadnaut decides to kill them. During the fight you can see their bones on the ground.
  • It used to be possible to safe-spot Dreadnaut if you wished to use magic or ranged. Using gatestones, players could trap him behind the boxes in the room and safe-spot him. This method has been removed, as Jagex has removed all the boxes.
