The drowned moai is a stone head that can be found just off the south-western coast of Whale's Maw. Players can learn about the story of its drowning from Sea Witch Kaula during the Head of the Family miniquest, where it gets too curious about seeing the tide up close and, after exhausting the villagers to move it closer, drowns when the high tide rolled in.
Due to a glitch, it is currently un-examineable.
