Family gauntlets are a reward for completing the Family Crest quest. Players can take them to any of the three brothers from the quest and have them enchant the gauntlets with a special ability. Players can only have one effect at a time, and it will cost 25,000 coins to change the effect of the gauntlets.
If a player loses the gauntlets, they will have magically returned to Dimintheis who will give them back with its previous enchantment. This makes the original gloves unobtainable after they are enchanted once.

The enchanted gauntlets
Cooking gauntlets
Bring the family gauntlets to Caleb in Gertrude's house west of Varrock. Cooking gauntlets greatly decrease the chance of burning fish, particularly lobsters, swordfish, monkfish, sharks, cavefish and rocktail.
Goldsmith gauntlets
Bring the family gauntlets to Avan at the Al-Kharid mine. Goldsmith gauntlets increase the Smithing experience of smelting gold from 22.5 to 56.2. This makes smelting gold bars more efficient, but will still make you lose a lot of money. Buying gold ore for 587 coins and smelting them will give a loss of -581 coins per bar, or -10 coins per exp.
Chaos gauntlets
Bring the family gauntlets to Johnathon in the pub to the north-east of Varrock (near the Wilderness border). Chaos Gauntlets provide a 10% damage boost to all Bolt spells. This boost was removed with the Evolution of Combat, but was brought back on 24 March 2014.
