Fareed is considered by some to be rather weak compared to Dessous, Kamil, and Damis, although he does have a somewhat strong defence. He mainly uses melee and can hit up to 36 with it if the player wears Ice gloves, otherwise he can hit up to 40. He also uses magic from time to time, but his magic tends to hit low and with little accuracy. He is nearly entirely dependant on melee, so using the prayer Protect from Melee while wearing magic-resistant armour such as Dragonhide armour is rather good method to defeat him. Ahrims is a good armour to use, as it provides magic defence and will give the player a relatively high magic attack bonus enabling players to defeat him quickly. He also has a fairly high defence against melee so players may hit many 0s on him (if they decide to use melee) unless the player has a very high attack level. Since he has a high defence against melee it may be useful to bring an attack potion to help the player hit more accurately.

Players should wear ice gloves, otherwise Fareed can hit up to 40 on you. Players should not assume that if they are magers or rangers it will not affect them, because it does to a certain extent. Cannons WILL Work!!!!

Fareed is weak to water spells, and ice arrows so these attacks are always recommended. However, he uses a gimmick: you cannot wield a weapon in his chamber unless you're wearing Ice Gloves because his chamber and body are too hot. However, Ice Gloves are easy to obtain. (See the Hero's Quest guide for more details on how to obtain Ice Gloves)

[FAQ] [doc]

Fareed is a boss in the Desert Treasure quest. To wield a weapon, players must be wearing ice gloves. Players must light the 4 torches in the smoke dungeon and head towards the chest in the middle of the dungeon to get a key which opens the door to battle Fareed. He is considered by some as the easiest boss in Desert Treasure.

Killing Fareed

Fareed makes a reappearance in the Recipe for Disaster final battle and is known as Flambeed. He is slightly more difficult to defeat since prayer isn't allowed, but he can still be defeated using the above tactics, ice gloves, and food.

Warning

It has been tested by some players, that he will not be damaged by other spells, such as god spells. So it is highly recommended to use water spells only. Water Wave is highly recommended if players can cast it, otherwise stick with Water Blast.

Trivia

 • It is interesting to note that Fareed means "Special" or "Unique" in Arabic.
