Father Aereck

Father Aereck is a Saradominist priest in charge of the Church of Lumbridge, and of Saradominist worship in Lumbridge. He trained for the priesthood alongside Father Urhney, a priest located in the Lumbridge Swamp. He apparently has trouble dealing with trouble, much to Urhney's annoyance.^[1]^[2] Amongst those problems is a restless ghost residing in his graveyard, so he asks for help from Urhney and a passing adventurer. Afterwards, he sells gravestones to the adventurer, with all sales proceeds going to the Varrockian Guards' Widows & Orphans Fund, and can also bless clay rings into rings of devotion.

He is a possible witness to the Dorgeshuun goblins' accidental excavation into Lumbridge Castle. If he isn't, he laments the damage done instead. Later, when the Dorgeshuun send the goblin Zanik to explore the city above, he attempts to convert her from atheism to Saradomin.

He has an inaccurate understanding of Gielinor's history. He believes that the Gielinorian God Wars were a symbolic story of the struggle between light and darkness rather than an actual conflict,^[3] and considered it to be a battle between Saradomin and Zamorak, with the other deities allied with Zamorak.^[4]^[5] He also believes the Edicts of Guthix to be a result of Saradomin choosing to allow Zamorak to escape then making a pact with the other gods in order to spare Gielinor's destruction, rather than Guthix banishing all the major gods, Saradomin included, for nearly destroying Gielinor.^[6]

During the 2011 Hallowe'en event, he appeared at the Grim Reaper's Citadel, advertising gravestones alongside Dardar the dwarf. The Citadel frightened him.

Players used to be able to acknowledge that RuneScape is actually a computer game when talking to Father Aereck, breaking the fourth wall convention.
In player-owned port, the player can tell Meg that Father Aereck is a Mahjarrat.
Aereck and Urhney may be a reference to the comic double act Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise.
