A Fishing rod is an item used to catch fish through the Fishing skill. It can be bought from Gerrant's Fishy Business in Port Sarim, Harry's Fishing Shop in Catherby, Hank's Fishing Shop in Lumbridge, or the Grand Exchange for 523 coins.
In order to fish, players must have fishing bait in their inventory and at least one inventory slot to hold a fish (more inventory slots for more fishes), for every fish except Rocktail. To catch Rocktail you will need Living Minerals instead of fishing bait. It was once possible to lose your rod from random events, but after the 25 February 2009 updates, it is now impossible for this to happen. Free players can use it to catch Sardines, Herrings, and Pikes. Members can use Blamish snail slime on it to turn it into an Oily fishing rod. The Oily fishing rod can only be used to catch Lava Eels.
Using this type of rod, you can catch:

Glitch
If you do the Home Teleport Spell, then use the Explore Emote while about 5 or more spaces away, then click on the Bait Fishing Spot, you will have the Fishing Rod out, then glide over to the spot, then start fishing.
Template:WP alsoThere is also another glitch which can only be seen at certain angles where the fishing rod appears to be under the water (water texture).
