[FAQ] [doc]

Flambeed is the second boss of the final subquest of the Recipe for Disaster quest, (Defeating the Culinaromancer), and is made of giant hot cakes. Players will need to wear ice gloves while fighting him, or else they will not be able to wield a weapon. He is a reincarnation of Fareed and can be defeated accordingly. Players can visit the bank between each boss.

Flambeed is fight-able along with Agrith-Na-Na and Dessourt as a class D boss monster in the Dominion Tower minigame if the player has completed Recipe For Disaster.

Strengths and weaknesses

Flambeed is weak to any Water spell, including ice spells. Stunning him, putting a distance between you and him, then casting your strongest Water or Ice spell and repeating this process is a quick and easy way to take care of this monster, and is highly recommended. He uses melee and magic attacks, so players should bring food since prayer is not allowed. His melee attack is the more dangerous attack, capable of hitting over 5000, so it is advised to maintain distance from him as much as possible. Ice spells are especially useful for this purpose as they stun him. Ranging him is not recommended, as he has high ranged defence. It is not recommended to melee him either, as he can easily kill any player in two hits, regardless of armour or defence level. If you do use the ranged or melee approaches, you will need to bring ice gloves to wield a weapon. Otherwise, when he attacks you, it will be unequipped, and you will be unable to fight him back. It is also advisable to bring the gloves if maging him, because if he manages to get next to you and unequip your staff/wand, your accuracy will significantly decrease.

In Dominion tower ice gloves are not necessary. If player holds in the western (entrance) part of the arena, Flambeed appears he cannot get to player and hit him at all, so using magic from distance is completely safe (after other mobs are killed).

Trivia

  • Flambeed is a food-related pun on Fareed, one of the bosses from the Desert Treasure quest.
  • Flambeed could also be a reference to the part of the Sir Amik Varze subquest, where you have to flambe the creme brulee.
  • Before the Evolution of Combat, Goliath gloves could be used at full strength against Flambeed without need for ice gloves.
  • Originally, Flambeed had a combat level of 149. This was changed to 199 with the release of the Dominion Tower. It was changed again to 128 with the release of the Evolution of Combat.
  • Flambeed can regularly hit for very high amounts of damage with his melee attacks, regardless of whether Ice gloves are equipped. It has been confirmed that he can hit for over 5000 damage, even after the 50% reduction from protection prayers, making it extremely difficult, if not outright impossible, to kill him without stunning him and using ranged or magic. It is not known whether this is intentional or a glitch.
  • His name is a play on flambé-ed.
