Floating essence is the initial source of rune essence in the Runespan. Players can take a maximum of 25 essence, only being allowed to take enough so that the total in their inventory adds up to 25. For example, a player with 10 pieces of essence can only take 15 more from floating essence. The minimap classifies floating essence as an NPC.
