This page is for logo submissions to replace our current logo. Feel free to conceptualize and use your imagination, it doesn't have to be similar to our current logo. At the end of the submission phase, the logos will be voted upon.
Rules
- Images must be saved in PNG, which can be done by changing the file type to PNG in the Save window.
- The maximum width is 215 pixels and the maximum height is by 155 pixels.
- Bear in mind that the default skin that most editors see is Sapphire, a sample of which can be seen here.
- The deadline for submission is 00:00 UTC, September 7th, 2010, which is in September 07 2010 00:00 UTC This message will be displayed if the timer does not show up (if you do not have javascript enabled on your browser, for example). Please note that this includes resubmissions. You may not make changes to your submitted logo after this time.
- Creating an account before submitting is recommended, but not required.
How to submit
- Upload your logo to ImageShack or Photobucket. Please do not upload them to the Wiki, since only the winning logo may be hosted here.
- Paste the "Direct link" from ImageShack or Photobucket where it says "Direct link" in the next empty row.
- Where it says "Description", add a brief summary of your logo and why you think it should be chosen. If you did not make the logo from scratch, explain the yours
- Change "Sign here" to "~~~~", which will be converted into a signature and timestamp when you save the page.
- Save the page.
- If you wish to suggest a logo without actually creating it, please add it to the bottom of the page. Be sure to add ~~~~ to the end of your post.

Ideas & Comments
- If posting an idea, describe the design followed by your signature (

A suitable rune which would be representing the wiki, is partly morphed into something mind making a similar to the Wikipedia's Jigsaw Globe logo, with the puzzle pieces with Letters in languages. This had been put into practice at WikiSimpsons where Homer's head morphs into the globe at the top, and in Uncyclopedia where the Globe is changed into a potato, Times New Roman font will form the Wiki's name below the logo.

What if you had a Staff of Light, Rune Longsword, and Rune Arrow all crossing each other (similar to the runebound behemoth's prayer).
Then at the lower left, have high level rune(s) like soul, blood, and air overlapping; at the lower right have a high level bow (maybe a dark bow?); and at the top center have a rune helmet (mid-helm, I am thinking). Then under this combat triangle, have "Runscape Wiki" like in the current logo (only a different color and no reflection).
Let me know what you all think about this.

- Hmm, I really don't think we should be having black backgrounds... Or really any backgrounds. The photo's must be PNG, and 32bit PNG supports full-alpha (Do NOT use 8-bit, as that is only one alpha channel). - Now, why would you hate "Don't Delete Discussions"??? It has no cons, other than a slightly messy discussion, which can be handled, and is worth the ability to see the discussion as it is (or was) rather than a modified version because someone decided they wanted to delete a bunch of stuff. Anway, I uploaded four logo designs. Nothing perfect, because MinyRS beat me to the punch of creating that runic one. ;D
Observation - A lot of very good submissions here; the envy of Photoshop nubs like me. The choices are already starting to get difficult. Comment - I like #17 (and agree that maybe the rune images should be "Wikified" a little), but what about adding god-logos around the edges of the globe, to fill up some of the empty space there? Image Creation Tips: Just to help any potential logo makers who wish to try their hand at creating a logo, here's a few general image creating tips:
- First of all, don't even TRY to use a program like Microsoft paint. It doesn't support alpha, and frankly, is just not good enough. Free alternatives include the GIMP and Paint.NET, both which I use for my image design (Paint.NET is easier to use, but the GIMP has FAR more features and is overall compatible with more files). Commercial software would be best off with Photoshop, though in my opinion, the GIMP is just as powerful without costing a bundle.
- Hard edges looks bad generally, unless purposely intended so. Even if your logo is rectangular, you should smooth the edges, such as how the current logo does. This is done with Alpha (transparency).
- Likewise, you should avoid having backgrounds. While a white background may appear unnoticeable on the sapphire theme, users using a different theme or if the site's theme were to be changed, would make the background quite noticeable. Since Anti-Aliasing (smooth edging, rather than jagged edges) depends on blurring the edges with the background, its important to have alpha BEFORE you create anything else.

Suggestion - What would be nice is if we could replace the map of No. 17 with No. 9's. Also, add no. 11 to the bottom, but possibly smaller or on one line. This should make a wikipedia globe with a vaguer runescape map at the bottom as well as grey rune symbols with the words "RuneScape Wiki" at the bottom. Comment - I liked Felipebrs's Simple 28, and thus I added it to my Monobook.css because it stands out among the previous additions from Logo and Theme design forums, it can easily fit Monobook and look fantastic, and made a minor change (width to fit properly in Monobook). On another note, I have yet to see a logo submitted with the previous font used in the RSC logo (Choc D if I'm not mistaken, sadly it's a commercial font), it would be interesting to see what we will come up with. To my Monobook.css for preview, I find out that the 215/216 is still too wide. We could go with what Q said on Kris's talk page of adding:

- The wiki doesn't use monobook though, and there's no real reason to use monobook over Monaco (used by most wikis, including this one). Monaco supports more stuff than monobook and has a better layout (though that's a matter of opinion) and is actively developed. You can consider Monobook to be dead, since even its original user, Wikipedia, doesn't even use it anymore. If you are using it, you may want to switch to Monaco. This can be done in your settings. - I am also going to say this to the few who keep telling me to use Monaco, I don't give a fuck. Believe it or not many people here do use Monobook as their default skin. The original specification for the Logos was 155x155 until this edit per Bonziiznob's talk page and a help page. However, this wasn't specified to clearly as it was soon thought to also be Monobooks specs (per the light space, and we can't tell a square to a rectangle apparently). Also on the "You can consider Monobook to be dead", Monaco is dead per Wikia’s new look - FAQ: How long are you going to support Monaco?. Monobook will be kept and Monaco is going to be thrown away. - I am also going to say this to the few who keep telling me to use Monaco, I don't give a fuck. Believe it or not many people here do use Monobook as their default skin. The original specification for the Logos was 155x155 until this edit per Bonziiznob's talk page and a help page. However, this wasn't specified to clearly as it was soon thought to also be Monobooks specs (per the light space, and we can't tell a square to a rectangle apparently). Also on the "You can consider Monobook to be dead", Monaco is dead per Wikia’s new look - FAQ: How long are you going to support Monaco?. Monobook will be kept and Monaco is going to be thrown away. Comment - Also, per my comment above and Oasis piece on the main forum, Monobook will be supported longer than Monaco, and as such the dimension should be changed back to 155x155 per the FAQs on the Community Wiki, Sannse's comment on the blogs, and original proposal. Comment - Sorry if I came across harsh. My point simply is that the logo should keep up with the current times. Larger size means we have more room for creating a great logo for the wiki. Many logos today ARE horizontally larger than they are vertical, thus, it's an advantage to be able to have logos of this size available. We could always use a different logo, such as a scaled down version on the monobook theme, though there's no reason we shouldn't be able to create something that will benefit the majority of the users who do use Monaco. As for the fact that Monaco will die with Wikia's new look, I have seen the new look, and as alien as it is to me, I felt the same way with the monobook -> monaco transition, and eventually I found that I much prefered Monaco to monobook once I got used to it. Change is inheritively good, and when the Wiki's new look hits this wiki, I'll be among the first to jump right into it! Hofmic Talk 00:02, August 29, 2010 (UTC)
