'''Comment''' - I think this would be a nice idea, but I have a fear it would be easy to exploit for spamming, advertising, and other vulgar content. If it were to be featured in a prominent area, this could be a huge issue. I also don't think it would be a good idea to archive these comments, as it would quickly turn into scores and scores of pages that no one ever reads or visits or makes use of. {{Signatures/Psycho Robot}} 08:22, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

:So perhaps an archive of them, we could simply tally them into categories and delete the comments after a said period of time... Complaints, Comments, Suggestions, etc. would have their own heading and we can simply tally the majority of comments into subsections... (Website Design Suggestion = 45) (Quest Suggestions = 256), etc... that's only if we won't archive. {{signatures/bonziiznob}} 13:42, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

'''Question''' - Isn't this actually very similar to [[Forum:RuneScape:Feedback]]? That is a place for feedback(/comments) for what we should do. I don't think it would be a good idea to transclude it on the mainpage, because that would be almost guaranteed spam. It should have a link from the main page too though. Else it is too hard to find it.{{Signatures/Joeytje50}} 08:34, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

:I'm not sure you understand the proposal. "''I don't think it would be a good idea to transclude it on the mainpage, because that would be almost guaranteed spam.''" The box you leave comments in would be on the main page, then the comments appear on a different page. Also, does anyone know of an extension like this? {{Signatures/Stelercus}} 10:25, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

'''Comment''' - I was on a wiki earlier today (don't ask me which one, I can't remember) and at the bottom of a mainspace page was a comments thing a bit like how blogs work. We could try and found out information about that or we could see if we could set something up like the GEMW script that you type something into it and it will paste it on a page like RuneScape:Comments or something similar. {{Signatures/Sentra246}} 10:39, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

Forums: Yew Grove > Comments Section?

I have an idea, but I'm not sure if it's feasible, so if someone could clarify if it's possible, that would be appreciated.

Idea - We have a vast amount of contributors, a majority being i.p. editors, and an even larger number of viewers. I got to thinking and I haven't really been able to find a simple way for these people to communicate to us easily unless they purposely create an account to contribute on the yew grove, or click a check on the main page poll... so I'm wondering if it's possible to create a comments section on the main page of our site... and if it's possible? What I had in mind was a small comments template, like we do for the wiki post or the poll, where users can freely leave comments, suggestions, complaints etc without needing to log in. The comments that come in could be post on a adjacent project page, etc in sequence they are left (we could use AJAX on it to auto-refresh), and archived as needed. This will allow us to quickly and effectively understand what our users think be it complaints, comments, suggestions, etc. If we find a large portion of editors leaving comments saying we need to focus more on quest outlines, then we should implement something to reflect this.... if we find a large number of requests asking for video guides on content, perhaps we should create a video project to help address this.

Then again, I'm not sure how possible it is to create this. It must freely accept comments (perhaps we can limit it to a certain number of characters) and post them in an accessible location. Also, I'm not sure how we can filter users from entering similar comments and suggestions over and over again, but I'm sure we can put some kind of limiter like the poll has (which allows 1 vote per i.p)...

Anyways, I'm interested in ideas, potential, suggestions or possibility. Let's try to put the community's needs and wants before our own. I think this is a good way to address some of that.
