::Not necessarily, baby dragons make green muck, while adult+ (or is it adolescent?) makes dragon muck. But yeah, I can make those default/supplied by [[Module:Animal species data|the module]] and overrideable in the infobox like the rest. So the muck on the baby dragon pages can be overridden. {{Signatures/Salix of Prifddinas}} 21:58, October 1, 2018 (UTC)

'''Comment/Request''' - Can we have an example page for all options? Looking at the infoboxes help but would be much easier to judge if I could see full pages with them implemented. {{Signatures/Chessmaster}} 17:55, September 23, 2018 (UTC)

Forums: Yew Grove > Player-owned farm animal pages

The player-owned farm update added animals to the game that could be an item, an NPC, or both. Should all of those variants; unchecked item, checked item, and NPC all be on the same page? Probably not. So here's my proposal (variant 1):

  1. Unchecked items (which are all tradeable on the GE) should become a seperate page with the exact name as in-game with infobox item as it's just an item while it's unchecked. Much like the charged and uncharged engrams from the Memorial to Guthix.
  2. Checked items and their equivalent NPC should stay on the same page having a switchfobox containing both the item and the NPC. Additionally this page should get a yet to make infobox pof animal template à la Infobox Seed/Infobox Bonuses as shown in the example below:
Common brown rabbit
Farming level 17
Pen size Small
Eats Flowers, vegetables, fruit, and seeds
Produce 2 rabbit teeth, rabbit foot
Muck Manure
Base sell price 25 beans
Breeding cycle 5 minutes
Growth time
Baby Adolescent Adult Elder
N/A 15 minutes 15 minutes 15 minutes
Experience
Baby Adolescent Adult Elder
N/A 100 175 225

Example above is an adapted version of Battleben's template.

3. Most shiny animals (exception being the Araxyte spider) should just be a NPC infobox and additionally the pof animal infobox template.

Alternatively, as variant 2, we could also split the checked item and the NPC to separate pages which will also require the duplication of their infobox pof animal template.

Discussion

Support variant 1 - Imo this is the best setup. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 11:51, September 12, 2018 (UTC)

Support variant 1 - Baby variants of animals would also need their own pages with just the NPC infobox, since the baby forms are shared between all of the different breeds of that animal. Only exception is dragons, which would probably need to stay on the same page as the adult. Adventurer's log Wahisietel (Talk) Quest map icon 12:08, September 12, 2018 (UTC)

I don't know, I feel like the babies should also stay with the adult version just to keep all the growth stages on one page and redirect the different name(s) to that animal's page. Additionally we could add the name of the growth phase to the growth phases table as suggested below. Otherwise it might become too fragmented. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 14:17, September 12, 2018 (UTC)
As for the babies being the same accross breeds (except dragons), those pages should become disambiguation pages that refer to the breeds. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 14:18, September 12, 2018 (UTC)
Why not both? For example, "Spiderling" could be its own page with an NPC infobox, but also referenced as being the baby form of the night spider on the night spider page, and the baby form of the spirit spider on the spirit spider page, ect. Not 100% sure a growth table is needed though, remember that three of the growth stages of each animal are visually identical, with the baby form (and occasionally egg) being the only visually distinct one(s). The shiny versions already have their own pages, and they are a similar situation to the babies (shiny versions are essentially an NPC shared between all the different breeds, a shiny common brown rabbit is identical to a shiny piscatorian cottontail). Adventurer's log Wahisietel (Talk) Quest map icon 16:55, September 12, 2018 (UTC)
True, let's do both then. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 18:38, September 12, 2018 (UTC)

Comment - If it is possible to merge the item with the npc's growth stages without looking like too much: Variant 1. If not, I'd say make the item separate and have the different growth stages as switchbox on another page.

Technically every growth stage is the same item and NPC. :P Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 13:06, September 12, 2018 (UTC)
Right. We'd add the pictures for the growths outside the infobox then? If we do put pics. Maybe I'm seeing something different in my head. Variant 1 seems fine then :)

Yeah, we could do the same as we do for crops/trees. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 13:57, September 12, 2018 (UTC)
Perfect - Support variant 1 then.

Comment - Animal infobox would probably need cleaning up a bit before implementation, ideally the egg parameters would display "Unknown (edit)" by default and {{na}} only if "no" is entered, but I was too stupid to figure out how :V. GE values of produce and manure would probably be useful too. Assuming everyone is fine with things, I'd be up for helping implement stuff once the template is a good state and we agree on a basic template what an animal page should ideally look like. Speaking of which, would the growth stage thing you guys want look something like this (but less shitty)?

Egg Baby Adolescent/Adult/Elder
Name Chicken egg [[Chick]] Oomlie bird
Image Chicken egg (Oomlie, NPC) Chick (NPC) Oomlie hen (NPC)
Examine A chicken waiting to happen. It's clucking adorable. A jungle version of the chicken, but more vicious.

That looks fine tbh, perhaps twist it around 90 degrees? Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 09:05, September 13, 2018 (UTC)

Comment - Unchecked animals should definitely have separate pages because many of them are unobtainable and only exist for consistency. I agree that checked animals and their npc forms shouldn't be split into two pages. A switch infobox will do. 5-x Talk 13:00, September 13, 2018 (UTC)

Support 1 and 3 - I don't have any type of argument but I like it Slayer log Coelacanth0794 Talk Contribs 13:33, September 13, 2018 (UTC)

Comment - Template:Infobox Animal is now live, as no one objected it and is not a part of the core question in this thread (it is related though), which is if the pages should be split and how. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 21:53, September 13, 2018 (UTC)

FYI, the unchecked item will not get this template (if/when it is split off) as is only useful for the checked items/NPCs. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 21:54, September 13, 2018 (UTC)
Muck is the same for all breeds of the same species, so should be set by default, unless a parameter is entered. Adventurer's log Wahisietel (Talk) Quest map icon 15:10, October 1, 2018 (UTC)
Not necessarily, baby dragons make green muck, while adult+ (or is it adolescent?) makes dragon muck. But yeah, I can make those default/supplied by the module and overrideable in the infobox like the rest. So the muck on the baby dragon pages can be overridden. Comment/Request - Can we have an example page for all options? Looking at the infoboxes help but would be much easier to judge if I could see full pages with them implemented. bad_fetustalk 17:55, September 23, 2018 (UTC)

Example would be: Common brown rabbit, Common brown rabbit (unchecked), and Bunny. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 21:08, September 27, 2018 (UTC)
Might just be me being thick here, but I don't see any switch infoboxes on any of those pages which is one of the proposed variants. bad_fetustalk 08:02, September 29, 2018 (UTC)
You're correct, I seem to have forgotten to add the switchfobox for the NPC to common brown rabbit. I've just fixed that. :) Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 15:05, September 29, 2018 (UTC)
