This page is for theme submissions to create a new look for the new Wikia skin. Please visit this page for examples and more information.
Rules
- The skin must be created with the ThemeDesigner, and may not feature any skin modifications through Wikia.css.
- Please make sure the new skin is compatible with screen resolutions (min. 1280x720, max. 1920x1080). Please visit this wiki to design your own theme using the ThemeDesigner.
- If you have a fitting logo, please add it in the picture.
- The deadline for submission is 15 November 2010, so the submissions are closed. Please note that this includes resubmissions. You may not make changes to your submitted logo after this time.
- Creating an account before submitting is recommended, but not required.
How to submit
- Create your own skin at using the ThemeDesigner at any wiki. Please visit this wiki to design your own theme using the ThemeDesigner.
- Upload your screenshot to ImageShack or Photobucket. Please do not upload them to the Wiki.
- Paste the "Direct link" from ImageShack or Photobucket where it says "Direct link" in the next empty row.
- Where it says "Description", add a brief summary of your Theme and why you think it should be chosen. If you did not make the theme from scratch, explain the origin and changes you have made
- Change "Sign here" to "~~~~", which will be converted into a signature and timestamp when you save the page.
- Save the page.
- If you wish to suggest a theme without actually creating it, please add it to the bottom of the page. Be sure to add ~~~~ to the end of your post.

Survey Results
The survey is in here. #8, with 27% of the vote, had nearly twice as much as any others. There are 4 other results that have between 10 and 15 percent of the vote. Surprising to me is that only 11% of the voters wanted to keep the current theme. I think what we should do is to try to get consensus on number 8, as there are too many other choices to make choosing between all of the higher ones feasible. Comment - I took a look, though I have no idea why it's a .ods file or what a .ods file even means. Excel doesn't seem to like it very much, though I can still view it. Anyways, I think that it may help if we grouped the results by idea instead of by number. This is to offset the single-choice nature of the survey. It is likely that people will pick an option in a similar category if their first choice was eliminated.
- Old RuneScape webpage (1, 2, and 9): 33%
- Antique Map (6 and 8): 32%
- Default colors (4 and 10): 13%
- RuneScape theme dark (3): 13%
- RuneScape theme light (7): 12%
- Runes (5): 2%

- No, people voted for the one they like the most if they like 1 that doesn't mean at all that they like 9, especially since they are nothing alike. This is just taking the results and saying hmm these are the same subject, everyone who likes this also will like this, that's not right. Just get consensus on #8 since people liked that, not they likes 1 so they must then like 2 and 9.

Support - For the record, ODS is open document spreadsheet, and is used by OpenOffice.org, a free alternative to MS Office, and can be opened by Google Docs as well. Too bad, I was rooting for you, #9. But, hey, #8 looks great. I think this is enough to count as consensus, unless you want another poll with just choices between #8 and the default theme. That would give a more accurate consensus. After all, #8 was the clear winner of this, now the only question is to use it or the default theme (I'm all for it, though, and want to see it as soon as possible). Comment - Yay, new theme! Abet, why do we have to wait till January? I suppose it makes it more signficent, though a christmas present wouldn't hurt. ^.^ I propose that the background image is made to be fixed. This can be done with the following CSS code in the MediaWiki:Wikia.css file.

Comment - What will these new theme change in terms of functionality? The main thing I can think of is that we will have to make sure all of our images have transparency and not whitespace, and we need to make sure that our AA transparency doesn't leave halos. ʞooɔ 10:17, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

- The amount of transparent images on Runescape Wiki is amazing, most (maybe 95%?) should be perfectly fine. (100% of template images will be fine). Imdill3 00:22, December 27, 2010 (UTC)

Test period
Alright, I've been talking with Cook about the logistics of implementing the new theme, and we both think that we need more time to make sure that everything looks perfect when the theme goes live for everyone. Anyone can currently test out the theme by adding the following lines to the beginning of User:<insert name here>/wikia.css

(Gaz is working on some better CSS, but this works for time being)
As you browse the site using the new skin, make note of anything that looks bad, and feel free to make changes to Forum:Propose a new theme/common.css. Only make changes to this CSS file, as the other file will not be modifiable when it is implemented using ThemeDesigner. Also tag images that need to be edited to look good with a colored background. Finally, make suggestions for template color changes where necessary. This will allow us to have the best looking skin possible when we do finally make this happen. Comment - Template:Infobox Item, Template:Infobox Monster, Template:Infobox non-player character, Template:Infobox Construction and Template:Infobox Music all need some of their colours changed a bit to suit the new background. Sentra246 03:49, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

Logo
Looking at the new skin the current logo doesn't quite fit in with it, so i propose we replace it with this version made by 9the Enigma9 http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/7927/runes.png
The new skin with the current logo can be found here and with the proposed logo here. Also it would be good if we can get consensus, yes or no, on this before the new skin is officially released, which would mean this would be less than 7 days. Support (kinda) - I'll support that for now, as it does look better, but eventually, at some point after this theme is implimented, we should have a contest for the logo. This was just for the skin, with no emphasis on the logo, and a separate contest should try and find a suitable logo for the new theme. Of course, because it should be compatible with the new theme, it'd be best to wait until the new theme is actually implemented before we hold a similar poll for logos...
