Currently all quests have a navbox, that navbox follows a standard. All quest navboxes should follow a standard, that is why I created Template:Quest navbox, so they all will follow the same standard, plus this way we could add something to that template so it's also added to them all. However I've heard opposition against this template, because it would be to limiting. I disagree because it offers everything a quest navbox template needs. And if there's the need to add something new, then it could be added to the template so the other templates could use it too if needed.

The template offers less work for the people creating a new quest navbox, because it already does some stuff automatically. Like adding Category:Quest templates to the template itself and the category of the quest to the articles that use it. And if for instance we would ever decide to rename the group Locations to Places, someone would only need to edit the quest navbox template, and not 220+ templates as is the case now.

If this template is rejected, then we should at least create a style guide for navboxes, and also one for quest navboxes specifically.

Discussion

Oppose - Too strict and complicated. I don't see we need this done with an additional wrapper. Too much extraneous code just to do something that was already so simple. MolMan 01:05, January 15, 2016 (UTC)

Uh - Is this an RfD or something? I guess this could be useful provided there is precedent that all quest navboxes followed the same structure, but, err, the template already exists, so what are we doing here? 18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 17:22, January 15, 2016 (UTC)

Try reading the thread. MolMan 17:24, January 15, 2016 (UTC)
I was implementing the template (100+ have it already), but Riblet and Cook shared their concern that it might be to limited which is why Riblet suggested to start a YG thread. So here we are. :/ And all quest navboxes indeed follow this structure. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 18:43, January 15, 2016 (UTC)
Ignoring Mol; okay, fair enough. It's easy enough to expand a universal template with optional parameters, so that shouldn't be too much of an obstacle. 18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 19:17, January 15, 2016 (UTC)

Support - To all the naysayers, what's the difference between this and the infobox 'wrappers' (not that they do anymore, if they ever did). I think the code could do with lua-fying as it's a little complicated as it stands and I think it could be improved and simplified beyond how it is right now (is there really a need to change the labels?). I think it's a good base and a step in the right direction. User:Cqm/Signature

We stopped using abbreviated infoboxes for a few different reasons, mainly that the local standardization achieved by using them was outweighed by the reduction in global standardization. ʞooɔ 21:43, January 17, 2016 (UTC)
