It's already been known for a while that Jagex's RuneScape Wiki is not exactly known for it's reliability. For example, the recent mass uploads of the Fallen star SoF items were all inaccurate due to the Jagex Wiki being inaccurate.

Since people still seem to love taking images there, I'd suggest updating the image policy regarding this so that only items that couldn't be obtained via normal means (Like the Jagex Moderator Outfit or Garish-pink partyhat) or would otherwise be inaccessible to players for a very long time (Crown of Loyalty (10 year)) be obtained using the Jag Wiki. Otherwise, they must be taken from ingame. This would hopefully lessen very visible mistakes when they do occur.

Discussion

Comment - In my opinion, we should only do this as long as the images were provided by Jagex themselves, and not players. We should also source the ORSW. Haidro (talk) 01:44, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

The fallen star images from Jag wiki were uploaded by Mod William >.>--Jlun2 (talk) 02:07, November 1, 2013 (UTC)
I'm talking about images in general :). Haidro (talk) 02:56, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

Comment - If you are talking about my spam of inventory images, they were non-existent in-game at the time (from what I'm aware of since I've been hiding in OSRS more often unfortunately), so I just took the inventory images from there. Of course some inventory images from Jagex Wiki are different than in game, like File:Seismic singularity.png. Most of the inventory images I've taken from there are pretty accurate (Grinning idols, 2nd batch of sof slayer masks, and today's fallen stars). I use those inventory images for the sole purpose of the page having an inventory image in its infobox. -- Recent uploads SpineTalkGuest book 02:35, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, they were unavailable to players for like a day after the news post, but their (sprites) are easily available to players soon after it appeared on SoF. I do agree on taking from Jagex's Wiki if the sprites were impossible for players to get them in any feasible amount of time (I mentioned loyalty crowns, although it could also be applicable to very rare items like Gold scythe)--Jlun2 (talk) 04:30, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

Comment - Do we not already have a clause in place allowing us to use Jagex wiki images when we can't get them ourselves? User:Cqm/Signature

Comment - Off topic: Any images that differ will be due to the official wiki documentation being written up during production of the content. Ideally I'd go and update any incorrect images when they're pointed out as being incorrect. Now that I know these are wrong, I can go and fix them. On topic: If it saves time, feel free to use inventory images if you can't get them from the game. Specially created maps and such should probably be avoided or I forsee there being confusion as to what images can be used on whose wikis - and I don't want to annoy you guys with your images being uploaded to the official wiki again :(. - Mod Michelle 18:04, November 4, 2013 (UTC)

I'm genuinely amazed you keep this much of an eye on us, but thanks for the clarification.
On an unrelated note your timestamp appears to be 3 1/2 days behind. User:Cqm/Signature
It's confirmed. Jagex is run by Time Lords Template:Signatures/Ciphrius Kane 21:21, November 4, 2013 (UTC)
Seems legit. Temujin 09:34, November 5, 2013 (UTC)
Hah, copy pasta failure. I check in on occasion to see if there's anything I need to act on. With the plagiarism issue we had a while back it makes sense to check if there's anything I can do to avoid problems like that in future. :) - Mod Michelle 10:18, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

Closure - Lack of discussion concerning the proposal. -- Recent uploads SpineTalkGuest book 17:27, November 16, 2013 (UTC)
