I have done a fair few elite clue scrolls and I have never found these these images helpful for solving compass clues. I'm curious to know if anyone else finds these images useful. Personally I tend to solve compass clues by triangulation; teleporting around different locations until I see that the arrow is moving more quickly, showing that I'm close, and then following the arrow to the exact location. Unlike scan clues, it is not logical to search a list of possible locations to solve the compass. There's far too many locations all across the world map and the images we have probably only represent a small number of the possible compass locations.

If no one finds these images to be useful I suggest that we delete them all and rewrite the page to advise people to solve compass clues by triangulation or any other method that people suggest for solving compass clues. Magic logs detailIsobelJRaw rocktail detail 17:42, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

Discussion

No support While I agree they are not perfect, the locations are still useful once you get an idea of where you are going. Ex: North Desert vs Central or South Desert. knowing which exact 3 spots you might head to for Al Kharid is better than just guessing, for some of us. --Deltaslug (talk) 19:06, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

lol no - Picture is worth a thousand words. I would much rather have images for Treasure Trails guides than a wall of text. Blaze_fire.png12.png 19:55, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

Comment - I've used them before now, both on here and Tip.it's treasure trail guide. It's a decent time saver to have an image than to constantly check a coordinate to make sure you're going in the right direction or how close you are. User:Cqm/Signature

Comment - It's very useful to have a picture sometimes. Granted, it's unlikely that absolutely everyone will find any certain feature helpful, but I think that in this case the pictures have enough use to warrant a stay. --LiquidTalk 06:52, December 12, 2013 (UTC)

Strong oppose - I have found them to be incredibly helpful. Temujin 07:04, December 12, 2013 (UTC)

Comment - What do people think of keeping the images in the article in the "Locations" section but expanding the initial paragraphs of the Treasure Trails/Guide/Compass article to explain a method for solving the compass? I was thinking of a method like "this"(Just an example, I would need to research the methods better if we did this). I don't think it would take many words to explain and we could put pictures to help. Then we could keep the location images for people who like to use these as well. I really don't think that'd be a good either. I'd hazard a guess that the majority of readers find the images helpful to a certain extent. As Deltaslug said, it's nice to be able to know which X places to check, rather than spend quite some time searching a large area. Temujin 10:57, December 19, 2013 (UTC)
Triangulation gives you a small area to search, after you know roughly where to search it's easy to find the exact place with the compass/the exact location images. I was suggesting having both in the guide to help people who use triangulation & people who just use images. Magic logs detailIsobelJRaw rocktail detail 10:05, December 23, 2013 (UTC)
I know exactly what it is that you were suggesting, I just think that you're underestimating how useful people find the compass images to be. Temujin 10:58, December 23, 2013 (UTC)
When I made this thread I did not think that anybody used the images, since several people have said that they do use the images I suggested keeping them and just adding information about another method. Are you saying you don't want this to happen and you just want the images? Magic logs detailIsobelJRaw rocktail detail 09:05, December 24, 2013 (UTC)
You don't need this thread to add to the guide. Temujin 09:09, December 24, 2013 (UTC)

Oppose - Personally, I find the images pointless (pun intended) and strongly support advising the use of triangulation. But apparently, some people use them, so let's keep them. 18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 19:37, December 15, 2013 (UTC)

Would you agree with the second idea I suggested then? Magic logs detailIsobelJRaw rocktail detail 08:10, December 16, 2013 (UTC)
Tips to solve them plus the images for those people who need them would work, aye. 18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 11:47, December 25, 2013 (UTC)

Oppose - I have used them on occasion and they are helpful to me. Ozank Cx 10:54, December 23, 2013 (UTC)

Comment - They are not always helpful, but they are sometimes. I would always suggest adding more and leaving these if we want to improve the findability (yes, that is a word...now) of certain locations. More is better than less in my opinion. User:Haloolah123/Sig 21:24, December 23, 2013 (UTC)

Closed - No consensus to remove these images. Suppa chuppa Talk 08:03, January 4, 2014 (UTC)
